Pathfinders

What is “Pathfinders”?

Pathfinders is a world-wide youth organization created by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The best way to describe it is a combination of Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Awana. Pathfinders participate in honors, competitions, trips, and activities. Your child will be involved in activities like canoeing, baking, camping, crafting, and many other fun and educational activities. They will also participate in marching drills, helping the community, Bible memorization, and fundraising.

Our Pathfinder Club is named The Delta County Pioneers. Pathfinders is based in the Adventist Church, but you don't have to be an Adventist, or even a Christian, to join. Just be aware that all of our activities are centered around the Bible and our goal is to help the kids have fun and develop a strong, personal relationship with Jesus.

We start each meeting with prayer and opening ceremonies. Then we read the Bible and have a short discussion before working on honor requirements, fundraiser plans, etc.

The first honor our kids completed was the Tie-Dye. They had to learn how the tie-dye process works, learn and practice different tie-dye techniques, and create their own tie-dye T-shirt.

The kids also work on their classwork if they want to advance to a higher rank (the highest is Master Guide).

This past May we attended the pathfinder fair in grand junction and won first place for our parade float.

Pathfinder Law and Pledge

Law: “Keep the morning watch. Do my honest part. Care for my body. Keep a level eye. Be courteous and obedient. Walk softly in the sanctuary. Keep a song in my heart. Go on God’s errands.”

Pledge: “By the grace of God I will be pure, kind, and true. I will keep the Pathfinder Law. I will be a servant to God and a friend to man.”

The Pledge and Law are recited at the beginning of every meeting. We want all our kids to follow these principles and treat each other with kindness and respect.

Staff and Parental Involvement

All of our volunteer Pathfinder Staff are qualified to lead and have passed the Sterling Volunteers background check. We welcome parental involvement, but you will be required to pass the Verified Volunteers background check if you want to attend meetings with your child, participate in club outings, or help with transporting the kids.

This helps ensure your safety and the safety of our pathfinders.

Note: We need each child's parents/guardian to fill out the medical information sheet and have it notarized. This is so you child can receive emergency medical attention if an accident happens while on a camping trip, camporee, or other trip/outing.

Big Future Events:

  • International Pathfinder Camporee 2024

Every five years pathfinders from all around the world gather together for five days for activities, evening meetings, and much more.

  • Pathfinder Fair

Every year pathfinder clubs within the Rocky Mountain Conference gather and compete for who has the best booth, float, honors and activities, etc.
